Robo brewing......

Well, I have done it; I bought a Robobrew. Yep, an automated system, glorified BIAB, however you look at it. They have become quite popular and the current model that was released earlier in the year, Generation 3, has addressed some issues that users have had and introduced a programmable timer; this is what really got me interested. I have spent a lot of effort and a fair amount of dollars building up my 3 vessel system and getting it to a point it is a little easier to control, but the Robobrrew presented an interesting proposition.

I have been doing a lot of experimental brews and the idea of a system that was a bit more set and forget was was attractive. So when the second batch of them hit the market late May, I jumped in.

My first batch was a NEIPA that pushed the RB to its limit and in the end was too much for it to handle, especially given my lack of experience with it's process. Anyway, I got through it and 2 days ago I bottled a rather interesting tasting brew. Today I pushed out my second brew, a Pommy Pale Ale and things went much better; closer to numbers and volume....so i'm getting the hang of it.

Being able to fill the RB with mash water the night before and set the program to heat at a set delay time means I can get up in the morning and be ready to drop grain straight in and get the mash underway.

I am not completely sold on the unit, but it seems promising.

I will no doubt be doing more brews on it in the future.
